Elegance of Emilia Wickstead

I feel that I’ve abandoned my roots a little lately. But in all fairness, February is a hectic month with red carpet appearances every Sunday and now NYFW and LFW. Right now its about living in fashion’s moment, not vicariously through the past.

However, in staying true to Timeless Beauty I’m going to post a few of my favorite looks from British designer Emilia Wickstead, who resembles more of a designer we’d see in New York City or Milan because she gave us such a timeless minimalistic collection that was truly stunning. We’d expect something must more edgy, experimental, and fashion forward from our British designers. But the simplicity was refreshing.

Maybe she’ll single handedly bring back elbow-length gloves.

PS: looks like the red/pink trend has made its way across the pond!

Recently we’ve seen soft sea foam green taking us by storm. But this isn’t just a one-season color. Designers have transitioned the color to fit into our fall closets as well. Lucky us!

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day it seems that NYFW designers were feeling a bit romantic about the holiday. Reds and Pinks were a very dominant dynamic duo. The berry hues are sure to warm up the chilly fall season.

New York Fashion Week

Greetings fashion fiends. Now that we’ve wrapped up NYFW I’ve been digesting the magnitude of clothing that strutted down the runways at Lincoln Center. Let it be known there was the good, the bad, and the ugly this year. But what’s most exhilarating was the immense array of color. The departure from typical burgundy, navy, forest green, black, and brown really was a sweet surprise.

But seeing so many celebrities wearing Spring 2012 off the runway looks has also been a little alarming. Although Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, signaling another six weeks of what we can call winter, it is clear that fashion doesn’t play by Phil’s rules. Pastels and florals may not exist right now in nature, but they do find themselves on the outfits of Jessica Alba and Zoe Soldana. Who said color was only for spring?

So before I start posting my forecasted fall trends, I’ll leave you with this. Global warming has not only altered our seasons (thank God I didn’t buy that season ski pass), but the increase in Earth’s temperature has also left our designers a bit perplexed.
